In conclusion, the architect is in charge of designing buildings, thinking about the distribution of elements, aesthetics, and functionality of them. It is a work associated with high creativity, both to optimize the use of resources and to break schemes. The civil engineer, on the other hand, focuses on the structure of the constructions and studies the conditions so that the design in planes is materialized in the best way. He also analyses the materials that will be used in the construction, the condition of the land, among other aspects. Furthermore, he is also responsible for the maintenance and execution of the work.
These two definitions help to understand that the architect and the civil engineer complement each other and work in a coordinated way to realize a good final building or structure with the proper standards of quality and safety.
